How Kimkins Diet Differs From Other Weight Loss Plans

Posted on April 6, 2008 in Health and Fitness by admin

A new diet program, Kimkins, claims to help people lose weight both faster and more easily than other weight loss diets. Basically, the difference is in how many calories and how many carbohydrates are permitted. Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig are traditional weight loss programs that are based on low calories and high carbs. Newer diets such as South Beach and Atkins tell dieters to consume a moderate amount of both carbs and calories. On the other hand, Kimkins is a low card and low calorie diet that focuses on eating low-fat proteins and vegetables with a low carb count. Another thing that makes the Kimkins diet unique is that it is entirely online. Rather than going to a storefront, or buying prepared foods of a specific brand, it consists exclusively of information obtained through a membership internet site.

The Kimkins diet does not require the purchase of any special foods or supplements, but is based on eating ordinary food, within a meal planning program designed for fast weight loss. Although the speed of weight loss using the Kimkins diet meal plan will be variable depending on the dieter’s age, gender, weight level and the amount of exercise done, a significant number of Kimkins members reported that during their first ten days they lost five per-cent of their overall body weight or more.

If the Kimkins meal plans are as easy and flexible as claimed by Kimmer, the founder of the program, her diet may indeed by less confusing and simpler to stay on than other more complicated weight loss methods. The online membership site even includes options for dieters who require kosher, vegetarian or vegan meals.

Another innovation that is included within the Kimkins support features is a forum where dieters can post specific questions and have them answered by other Kimkins diet members. One unique aspect within the forum is a clothing exchange that members can use when they need to get rid of their larger apparel for smaller sized items. There is also an area of the forum for diabetics to exchange information they feel is valuable.

In terms of pricing, the cost of Jenny Craig Online is $3950 per year, and Weight Watchers Online is $299 per year, while the Kimkins Online costs $59.95 for a lifetime membership.

The founder of Kimkins is a woman named Kimmer, who lost 198 pounds in eleven months. For more than five years she shared her weight loss secrets online in internet forums. It was not until March of 2006 that she launched the website that now makes her program available to its members. Still very active in giving out diet information, she personally answers questions about weight loss in an online forum called the Kimkins Cafe.
