Houston Rockets At Phoenix Suns Preview
Posted on May 9, 2008 in Recreation and Sports by admin
In a possible NBA Playoff preview, the Houston Rockets travel West to meet up with Shaq and the Phoenix Suns.
The Phoenix Suns have stolen the Houston Rockets mojo and made it their own. Riding a 6-game winning streak, they entertain the suddenly weakened Houston Rockets. The Suns and Rockets sport identical 46-22 records currently, while the Rockets have the #3-seed thanks to leading their division. The Phoenix Suns are planted in the #5-seed in the NBA West.
The Phoenix Suns are learning to live with Shaquille O’Neal. The ebb and flow of this NBA Season is dramatic, as one day it is one team rising, the next they come down to the pack. That is the story of the Houston Rockets. Now we will see, in the aftermath of their record 22-game winning streak, if they can compete for real, minus Yao Ming for the duration.
The Rockets have fallen twice in a row now after their streak, and any elongated losing streak in the NBA West these days can send you down several spots in the pecking order.
Tracy McGrady’s recently vaunted leadership abilities need to come to the forefront in the Rockets have any hope of making it deep into the NBA Playoffs.
I am not sold on McGrady, his leadership abilities or anything Rockets. I do not care if they won 30 in a row, there is something lacking in this team, not unlike the Dallas Mavericks. It starts with the star players on the team. Both the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks have very good star players, but not killers. Killers do well in the NBA come May and June, always have.
