Posted on 28th | Posted by admin in Wellness%2C Fitness and Diet

Jon Benson hates dieting. So, it's kind of ironic that a guy who dislikes dieting so much has authored one of the hottest diet books online. That's right. Jon wrote The Every Other Day Diet, or EODD diet plan that many people are finding helpful in their daily struggle to lose extra weight. The Every Other Day Diet book is written especially for those folks who constantly find themselves on the dieting treadmill – unable to get off of it permanently.

Mr. Benson is not only a fitness author, but he's also a life coach who really cares about people who have struggled with numerous diets. For many, maybe it's not the person, but the diet plan that's been all wrong. He created the EODD as an alternative to regular plans. It's more of a healthy lifestyle choice for those who follow it.

How Long Does it Take to See Results With Personal Training?

Posted on 11th | Posted by admin in Wellness%2C Fitness and Diet

Personal trainers help people plan and implement a fitness program to lose weight and strengthen and tone their muscles. They also help motivate their clients to stick to their goals.

Because each person is different, the results of working with a personal trainer will vary. As long as you follow the fitness program designed by your personal trainer and follow a healthy diet, you can generally begin to see results in about one week. It is not recommended that you follow your progress using a scale because when you are engaging in a fitness routine created by a trainer you will be toning your muscles. As you burn the fat with your workouts, it is being replaced by muscle, so the scale does not reflect your actual fitness progress. It is recommended that go by how your clothes fit and your energy level. Generally speaking, following the fitness program created by your personal trainer, you can reasonably expect to lose 1-2 pounds of fat per week. Personal training programs also promote healthy weight loss that can be maintained by increasing metabolism and decreasing body fat.

With Summer here, it seems an appropriate time to talk about walking for fitness. I wanted to talk about walking for several reasons, not the least of which being the health benefits that can come from it.

Walking for Fun and Fitness

According to an article I found by the Mayo Clinic, walking can produce the following benefits:
*It's safe and easy (no practice needed)
*It's low impact
*It can help put you in a better mood
*It can lower your LDL (or “lousy” cholesterol)
*It can help improve your HDL (or “happy” cholesterol)
*It can help lower blood pressure
*It can help you lose weight
*It can help reduce stress

Personally, walking would be worth it for the reduction in stress alone, but then, I have a pretty full household and it's a great escape when I need a breather.

You will find that the resistance bands because of the elastic approach it will build up the speed in your body in comparison to weights.

Resistance band exercises are a great alternative to any type of fitness exercise that creates impact on the body, since it virtually has no impact. An instance where it may be useful for example is with multiple sclerosis patients who can barely walk will be able to utilize the resistance bands to keep the blood flowing through their legs by doing a few stretches with the band wrapped around one of their feet. The resistance band provides a great alternative for all individuals in society.

Advantages Of Resistance Bands -

• Excellent for muscle build up and toning of the muscles.

• Increases one’s flexibility and range of motion.

• Eases the discomfort for sufferers of any movement disabilities due to its low impact activities.

• Great for rehabilitation patients who need to recover from an injury.

• Resistance bands can be used by all types of people, varying in heights, weight and age. This includes children as well!

Obviously a resistance band workout is not going to get all the results that you need. Because it’s more a toning exercise you need to combine the workout with mild aerobic exercises as well as a healthy diet. By doing this you will notice results much faster, and obviously achieve better results.

Just like with all pieces of fitness equipment you need to warm up your muscles and joints before applying any type of resistance. A warm up can be for example performing the exercise without the exercise band. The Salad Trap: Why Salads Are Usually The Devil

Posted on 3rd | Posted by admin in Food and Drink

Fresh, green, loaded with vegetables and all our other favorite toppings, the salad has satisfied dieters and non-dieters alike for years. Dieters always turn to the salad as a clear indicator that their new “diet” has commenced. A newly dieting person sometimes will comment on how they are “trying to eat more salads and fresh vegetables” instead of their former fatty fares. They proudly order up these green, leafy bowls of goodness with all certainty that their health will improve and their waistlines will diminish. I see these seemingly proud types of people almost daily, yet usually it’s with some trepidation.

1. Try Sugarless Delight

Chew on a piece of sugarless gum, or suck on a piece of sugarless hard candy for 5 to 10 minutes every two hours. This can help stimulate your salivary glands so you will have a more sustained flow of fluid in your mouth.
